*- WNPF NATIONAL
RECORD, BL-BEST LIFTER, TEAM CHAMPS- POWERLIFTING AND BENCH PRESS- WILLY’S
POWERHOUSE GARAGE.
The first US Open
Championships for the WNPF went well without any problems. It seems that all of
the lifters had a good time. We ended up with 47 lifters and we finished at
2:35 pm. The WNPF staff did a fine job of moving the meet along with great
spotting, great judging and announcing. A few guys bombed out because of
problems with touching the weight to their chest or locking out uneven. These
guys know exactly what they did and promise to come back stronger at the next
meet. Mike Wilcox is on a mission and totaled over 1200 for the first time. He
is looking for a match up at worlds against Rob Quatela
from Georgia, Rob I hope you see this. Edil DeLeon is a good 165 pound lifter with a great squat and deadlift. Mr. Elkinany from Egypt
finished in first place in the 181 class. Greg Wright placed first in both the
open and masters divisions. Alan Oyler coming back
from shoulder surgery did well benching 220 lbs. Bill Tinkler
and Burt Rosenfeild both over 70 years old were the
crowd favorites for sure with their great performances. Elkinany
hit an impressive 485 bench and missed 505 in the 181 class. He reminds me so
much of our top Guatemala lifter Edgar Masters. Brian Burritt hit 515 lbs. in
the 220 class and he also won the best lifter award for the day. Aaron Matthews
opened with 200 lbs and then ended up with a strong 430 lbs in the 242 raw division. Mike Allocco has been
away from the WNPF for a number of years but it was good to have him back and
he also ended up winning the best lifter award in the raw division. Michael
Churchman hit 400 lbs at 66 years of age. In the deadift
Sean Conlin won the best lifter award and his son
lifting in his first meet hit a 100 lb. deadlift.
Larry Bucchioni lifted 480 lbs in the 60-69 raw
division after cutting down to 220 the night before. Michael Brown won the best
lifter award with a 160 lb curl. Anton Manske hit the
highest curl of the day with 190 lbs. Thank you to all the spectators that came
out to cheer on their favorites and thanks to Elaina and Bob, Tom, Brian, Chris
and Dana, Vincent, Ray, Perry, Moms and everyone else that help make this meet
a success. See you at worlds on November 14th .(WNPF)
